Congratulations to LaShanda D, our Caregiver of the Month for August!
LaShanda was chosen for this honor because she is incredibly kind, caring, and passionate about caregiving and assisting others who need help. She has proven that her client’s well being is top priority as a member of the HomeChoice family. She connects with her clients and their families and keeps everyone up to date on any occurrences, changes, or concerns with her clients. LaShanda is an all-around fantastic person and caregiver. She exhibits all of the HomeChoice values, but LaShanda is especially caring & compassionate. She builds special bonds with her clients that then evolve into trust and friendships. She is able to connect with her clients because she takes the time to get to know them, their likes and dislikes, and what makes them so special.

LaShanda has been with HomeChoice Home Care Solutions for a year and a caregiver for 4 years. When asked why she became a caregiver LaShanda said, “I went into caregiving because I was interested in seeing how the elderly were being treated especially when I realized my grandparents could no longer care for themselves. I always hung out with the elderly because they had wisdom and knowledge. Being a mother of a disabled son I learned patience and kindness. I learned through him how to have compassion for everyone.” LaShanda loves working for HomeChoice Home Care Solutions because “they have exceptional staff. They really care about their staff. They are always willing to listen to us. They are very supportive. They are just a wonderful agency to work for.” LaShanda has a true passion for her clients. She enjoys talking with her clients, doing puzzles, gardening, bird watching, or watching a baseball game with them.
When she is not working, LaShanda enjoys cooking, cleaning and, now, bird watching. LaShanda has a sister, Bernadetta, who has always supported her in all areas of her life. She says, “If it wasn’t for Bernadetta, I would have given up on my dreams already”. She also is grateful for her mother who faithfully prays for her. LaShanda plans to become a CNA and to own a home care agency someday!
