Congratulations to Felecia H., our Caregiver of the Month for January!
Felecia was chosen for this honor because she embodies our values by being solutions-oriented. Felecia always figures out a way to ensure clients are provided the care they need compassionately and carelessly. She often is requested by any client she visits. She has a wonderful presence that is both calming and invigorating at the same time. Felecia is fantastic when communicating, do
comments all tasks with notes that are helpful and pertinent and it is evident how much she truly cares about her clients even if she is just filling in somewhere last minute. She focuses on the positives and can navigate situations with ease and will also communicate with office staff during her visits if she notices something that could be beneficial or adjusted to the client’s needs.
Felecia has been caregiving since 2005. She has worked with seniors, and individuals with autism, and developmental disabilities. She was inspired to become a caregiver because when she was in elementary school after she was done with all of her work she would disrupt the classroom by talking. Her teacher sent her to be a helper for the life skills class, a class for developmentally disabled students. She enjoyed teaching them how to wash their hands and hair and helping them with different tasks. She worked for PNC bank and with the I.R.S. for several years, but once she got a job as a caregiver with a company that housed individuals with autism; she knew what she was meant to do.
She loves working for HomeChoice Solutions because the office is very supportive, and accommodating with her schedule. When she had car trouble they were willing to make sure she could get to her clients. Since the office is so accommodating she makes sure she helps out when needed. She also likes our client matching program to make sure she is working with clients who are a good fit.
Felecia’s favorite thing to do with clients is talk with them to learn about what they did before they retired, their families, and their hobbies. Conversations help with dementia clients because talking about their past is calming. Talking with them also distracts them from the fact that they have to have a caregiver in the first place. She has also learned some crochet tips from a client!
Her future goal is to have increased roles and responsibilities at HomeChoice Home Care Solutions. She also aspires to open a respite home. When she is not working Felecia is resting! She also enjoys crocheting, reading, and playing with her Shih Tzu (Princess) and Miniature Pinscher (Peppa). She also likes to go home to Philadelphia to visit family as much as she can. Felecia is married to her wife, Chantay, and has a 21-year-old stepdaughter. 2 dogs.
Thank you for being such an invaluable member of our team, Felecia! We appreciate you very much!
